![]() I've got two questions, and I'd be happy to get an answer to either, or both! I haven't been following the progress of Pit People too much, as I don't have a ton of money lately to buy games, but I really enjoyed what I played of the closed alpha you guys did a while back. In conclusion, I don't know definitively, and I am old. During this supposed 'Indiepocalypse' there are still Indies doing amazingly well. We can't have the sweetest spot back maybe, but it's still a pretty good deal I'd say overall. ![]() The old slog of getting into Gamestop and hoping each branch manager wanted to carry 1 or 2 of our copies (new copies, because used yielded $0.00 for us and anyone else) while making a tiny amount from every sale due to all the truck drivers and shelf space and advertising and disc printing and packaging and other stuff AND WALKING UP HILL BOTH WAYS. That just wasn't something readily available before. There are platforms where people are specifically looking for downloadable games. People just didn't seem to take downloadable games quite so seriously as they do now - but make no mistake about it, this is (what I believe) one of the best times to be Indie. I think the sweetest spot was when most of the industry wasn't really focusing in on downloadable games. So, hearing claims that it isn't a good time for Indies is something my mind would initially disagree with (especially when I compare back to what it used to be like) - though simultaneously, details like much more competition do make things tougher. We had to scrape out some respect for that kind of thing in a lot of places. There was, at that time, no haven for Indies. That was a pretty difficult one to navigate. We were initially coming from a time where there was no Steam in existence, and a lot of people were still learning about XBL. This is really complex to answer a yes/no to and I don't think I can do that. Some based off preview and some we've had planned. However, I'd urge players to replay at full release, because there will be tweaks and additions to content. Again, it's up to you to pick your poison and we don't want to tell players how to consume. This question makes me want to make "Last time on Pit People." update recaps for those who want to refresh. Similar to an episodic tv show, you have the personal choice to go week to week or wait for them all. At this point it's really up to the player. So they're gonna get the story piecemeal as you've pointed out. We decided early on that we would release additional story content while in the preview, rather than hold till release. ![]() So you have these different camps, thus different expecations. First off, everybody wants something different from Game Preview. You know, that's a great question, one we ask ourselves, and one that has a lot of factors involved.
